I hope you are keeping well and staying warm in this chilly weather!
In this newsletter, I’d like to focus in on explainer videos as a useful marketing tool. I also have a video recommendation for you to watch that I hope will move you as much as it does for me.
Why Use Explainer Videos?
Explainer videos are a useful format for helping an audience to understand complex products or services, to increase brand awareness. Rather than delving into detailed nuances, this type of video tends to provide a high-level overview of the key benefits of the product or service. As such, they don’t always need to show the item, and for that reason animation (also known as motion graphics) is a popular choice for conveying the information.
Explainer videos tend to be shared a lot, so the goal is to make them as engaging as possible, to connect with viewers on an emotional level. Also, rather than being sales videos that focus on pitching the item, explainer videos take a far more soft-sell approach. They focus on helping the viewer to easily understand how the product or service fixes a common problem or challenge.

What I’m Watching This Week…
As a reminder, in each issue of this newsletter, I’ll be including some of my favorite videos from around the Web – videos that are useful, make us laugh, cry, or simply inspire.
This time, take a look at this 15 minute video with ‘Humans of New York’ creator, Brandon Stanton. It’s a fascinating and fun insight into his process that helps him tell stories using a camera and a few simple questions. Enjoy!
